Description
Sal’s Gene goes by a few variety names, including: Sal’s EL, Sal’s GS, Belleclare #39, and Sicilian Black. This Italian variety was introduced by Gene Hosey, and produces a large crop of small to medium, black to dark purple figs, with dark strawberry pulp and a white to amber syconia, with a good rich, sweet, berry/fruit flavor. It is very cold hardy.
