Synonyms

Ruby #4, Ruby-4

F4F Varieties: There were two Ruby figs, Ruby-3 and Ruby-4. These figs were found by Ruby Law, a member of the Foothill chapter of CRFG. She found an abandoned orchard in Etiwanda where these two figs and others were found. These two were unidentified but must be old varieties. Since we didn’t know their identities I called them Ruby-3 and Ruby-4. Ruby-4 was early this year and was very tasty. I don’t know why, but some years will cause certain figs to thrive exceptionally well. Last year [2011] my Ruby-4 suddenly had many brebas and then a bumper second crop which had never happened before. This year [2012], it has so far only an average crop. go figure.

Supposedly common.
