We have culled Meteorito since it requires caprification to produce quality figs.

Description
Meteorito is often considered a smyrna type fig variety. However, our tree has consistently put out edible figs, but they are quite small and less flavorful than caprified specimens. So Meteorito may be a semi-common fig type. We evaluated the quality to see how it develops over time, but after six years it didn’t get much better. If you are outside of fig wasp territory, you may want to pass on this variety. But if you have the wasp, you may want to add this unique variety to your fig collection.
