Evdurtschi: I usually see lots of dried up dropped figs on smyrna types but the only dropped figs here were ripe ones that fell down.
…a wonderful fig that was found this last year in Santa Barbara. It is not known if it is a seedling or if it was planted but it is growing from the base of a huge palm tree and it seems to have Palmata parentage.
The figs are very good. Super soft skin with a strong cherry/berry flavor and full of honey and soft and juicy. When allowed to dry on the tree, they become intensely cherry flavored. I did not see one fig on the tree that had spoiled so it looks like it can dry on the tree even in our cool climate. The tree has 85%+ spade leaves and is very attractive.
Cherry Cordial is a unique fig. It has a lot of breba forming now but I don’t know if they will ripen. This tree has 85%+ spade leaves and looks like a palmata hybrid of some sort. It could be a seedling as it is growing from the base of a huge palm tree. This tree was found by Fig Gazer It is an excellent fig with a VERY soft skin and strong berry flavor. It is not a very dense fig but just loaded with juicy syrup and these can dry on the tree for a very intense raspberry little snack.
