A recently found seedling.
Bluemalibu: two wild figs… and then Angelito, the wild fig that was the best tasting fig to my palate, from among the many hundreds of varieties that I sampled throughout this year. I will sequester these two next year to determine if either is common.
…as much as we caution new growers to not expect to grow the next ‘Must Have Fig’ when they are sprouting the viable fig seeds that we share with them, the two best tasting figs that I had last year were actually both wild finds; Angelito and Meteorito. And that includes the figs from all of the high priced cultivars from among my 700 trees, and the figs we tried at the several fig-fests, Wolfskill, and at Prusch Park.
